Meet Matt Wolosz, the Guy Behind the “Hire Terry” Signs

Matt Wolosz, the 41-year-old husband, father of two (ages 9 and 7), is the unexpected force behind the “Hire Terry” signs.

One more sign, literally and figuratively, pointing to Why Penn State and Why Terry.

Matt Wolosz

You probably saw it: a simple blue and white sign that popped up on national TV at the exact moment the whole Penn State world was watching. No marketing team. No NIL collective behind it. Just a regular Penn State fan who walked into Staples, printed a stack of signs, and started handing them out for free.

When I asked Matt why he did it, he didn’t hesitate.
“Love for Penn State and love for Terry.”

Did he sell the signs?
“No. I gave them away.”

Will he be at the Rutgers game?
“Yes, and he’ll be giving out more signs.”

Don’t live nearby or want your own?
Matt will give you the artwork so you can print one at Staples or anywhere else. No charge. No strings. Just sharing the message.

Then there’s his Instagram account, @pennstatejerseys, where he has posted more than 100 vintage Penn State jerseys, a curated archive of the program’s history.

Do you sell any of them?
“No.”
Are you ever going to monetize the page?
“No.”
Want to collaborate on a Terry Towel?
“No, I have a job. I’m not in this to sell anything.”

This is what real Penn State spirit looks like. A father, a fan, and a believer quietly doing the work with zero ego and one hundred percent heart.

If you want to do your own Terry Towel here is where you can order them. To make your own and sell a few by pinning Matt’s sign to the towel, visit Matt’s Instagram.
