A Tradition of Service Since 1870
In the heart of Bellefonte, Logan Fire Company No. 1 stands as a proud symbol of dedication, courage, and community spirit. Established in 1870, this historic fire company has protected generations of residents and businesses with unwavering commitment. But what truly sets Logan apart isn’t just its longevity—it’s the people behind the hoses and helmets.

100% Volunteer. 100% Committed.
Every firefighter at Logan Fire Company No. 1 is a volunteer. That means every emergency call, every training drill, every event spent battling flames or responding to accidents is answered by someone who chooses to serve—without pay, but with immense pride.
These volunteers come from all walks of life: teachers, mechanics, students, retirees. What they share is a deep love for their community and a willingness to put others first. Their selflessness is the backbone of Bellefonte’s safety net.
“We Logans have a ‘love’ for Bellefonte and surrounding communities. The communities we serve are made up of many wonderful people. Many in these communities are family members, friends, neighbors, church members, military buddies, and employment coworkers. It is an honor to serve and protect. We are the oldest organized fire company in Centre County! We have been serving for 155 years, 100% volunteers. We depend on our local communities/businesses for support, so we can be there when the need arises,” said Paul J Kline, Jr., President.

More Than Firefighting
Logan’s volunteers do far more than fight fires. They respond to vehicle accidents, hazardous material incidents, and medical emergencies. They assist during floods and storms. They educate children about fire safety and participate in parades, festivals, and school visits. Their presence is felt not just in moments of crisis, but in the everyday rhythms of community life.

Community Support Keeps the Company Running
In addition to being 100% volunteer, the Logans rely entirely on fundraisers, donations, and grants to operate. From maintaining equipment and upgrading gear to funding training, every dollar counts.
Annual appeals, chicken BBQs, raffles, and community events help keep our station open and our engines and rescue vehicles ready. Local businesses, families, and civic groups play a vital role in sustaining this essential service. Supporting Logan isn’t just charitable—it’s investing in the safety and resilience of Bellefonte.
