With a sold-out crowd of 450 people gathered under one roof to support Rise Above: Friends of Penn State Adaptive Athletics, the evening felt less like a fundraiser and more like a wedding, a celebration of separate lives coming together as one family and a shared future beginning.
In the ancient wedding story at Cana, ordinary water became wine, and a gathering that might have quietly ended became the first sign that something far greater was underway.
That is what July 25 felt like. Not the completion of a vision, but the moment a vision so grand came alive. None of us could yet see its full reach, but everyone in the room could feel that something much larger had begun.
That night, 450 people did more than gather. We came together as family, and together, we rose above.
