This Week Around Happy Valley: Lift for Life, Central PA 4thFest and America 250!

The forecast is heating up, and so is the Happy Valley events calendar. The Fourth of July and America 250 bring fireworks, parades, and plenty of red, white, and blue to the region.

Penn State football fans can head to the 23rd Annual Penn State Lift for Life this morning at the Lasch Practice Fields. The public fundraiser benefits Uplifting Athletes and the rare-disease community, with Penn State football players competing in a series of offense-versus-defense challenges. A short autograph session follows the event.

This evening, visit the Student Farm at Penn State for a Summer Solstice Celebration.

Fourth of July & America 250

This evening, Downtown State College hosts the Looking at US Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Public Art Walk Launch at East End Social. The new public art initiative, created for Pennsylvania’s America’s 250th commemoration, brings large-scale reproductions from the Palmer Museum of Art’s American collection to downtown facades and local businesses

Tomorrow, the Palmer Museum features 250 Community Day: We the People.

On Friday, Bellefonte hosts its America 250th Independence Day Parade followed by a Hometown Hero Dedication.  In downtown State College, Celebrate 100 Years of The Corner Room with Corner Fest, a free community block party on the 100 block of Allen Street.

Saturday brings the Fourth of July and the annual Central PA 4thFest, with a Firecracker 4K Run/Walk, the 2026 Central PA Independence Day Parade in downtown State College, then Fireworks at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Earlier in the day, Centre Furnace Mansion hosts Sunrise & the Spirit of ’76.

Live Music, Concerts & Performances

Live After 5 continues tonight at MLK Plaza, with Jimmy Mowery performing as part of the free downtown summer concert series. Jackson Pavlik takes the stage at Pine Grove Hall.

On Thursday, Tussey Mountain WingFest continues with wings, voting, and live entertainment from Pure Cane Sugar and The Amish Outlaws. Also at Pine Grove Hall, Jon Rounds & Doug Irwin perform.

Friday is packed with music. Pine Grove Hall hosts Lord Forest upstairs, while Manny’s presents Orquesta Mi Amor. The Lemont Village Green Summer Concert Series continues as well.

The holiday weekend also includes Wam-Bam Mountain Jam on Saturday, a full day of live music, food trucks, and a Fourth of July gathering. 

On Sunday, discover the hidden and free concert series Moonstock, where this week Lord Forest takes the stage. Also, the South Hills Music Picnic Series continues, and Bellefonte’s Summer Sounds brings Anchor & Arrow to the Talleyrand Park Gazebo.

The Fretliners perform Tuesday night at The Attic at The State Theatre.

Outdoor, Wellness & Recreation

Today, Centred Outdoors offers Wellness Wednesday: Art in Nature at Rhoneymeade, and the Arboretum at Penn State hosts Yoga in the Gardens.

On Saturday, Canoe Creek State Park hosts a History Hike focused on the park’s limekilns, the process of making quicklime, and the workers connected to that history.

Kids & Family

Today, the Arboretum at Penn State hosts Leave No Trace at Childhood’s Gate Children’s Garden, and The State Theatre and Schlow Centre Region Library present Read It, Watch It!: Wicked, a free noon movie as part of their summer series.

On Thursday, Nature Sketching for Young Artists takes place at the Arboretum.

On Saturday, the Kids on Wheels Parade is part of State College’s Fourth of July activities, where kids can decorate bikes, scooters, wagons, and strollers for the holiday.

Baseball & Watch Parties

The State College Spikes are home tonight, then return Friday for Fireworks Night and Sunday for another home game

Soccer fans can gather for a USA men’s soccer watch party tonight at HiWay Pizza Pub and Alla Spina.

Food, Drink, Trivia & Social Nights

For a casual night out, Axemann Brewery hosts USA Trivia tonight.  Boal City Brewing also has Trivia Night tonight..

On Sunday, Axemann Brewery hosts its Silverball Sundays Pinball Tournament, with registration on site. Monday brings Crafts & Brews at Boal City Brewing, and Tuesday includes Trivia Tuesdays at Happy Valley LIVE.

Arts, Museums, History & Creative Experiences

The Palmer Museum of Art hosts a Gallery Conversation with Dreaming American Futures Artists on Thursday evening, with a community reading and gallery conversation connected to the exhibition.

On Sunday, the Bellefonte Art Museum hosts its First Sunday Opening Reception, a monthly reception celebrating new exhibitions with refreshments, artist and community connections, and time to explore the galleries.

Schlow Centre Region Library hosts Needlework Club on Monday evening for anyone interested in knitting, crochet, embroidery, or simply gathering with other makers.

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead, the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts kicks off next week with Children and Youth Day on Wednesday, July 8.

Also later this month, the Annual Monet’s Picnic returns to the Bellefonte Art Museum on Saturday, July 25. The fundraiser includes a French picnic lunch by Fillmore Farm Cafe and Gardens, artists painting en plein air, and a raffle of artwork created during the event.

Penn State Rise Above: Friends of Penn State Adaptive Athletics also hosts its We Are Family event on Saturday, July 25 at The Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center, with Terry Smith as keynote speaker.
